Since 2008, the American College of Corporate Directors credentials have represented the “Gold standard” in corporate director education, and those executives who earn them are highly valued in the board community. To earn American College of Corporate Directors Professional Director status, a member must accumulate a set number of credits earned by attendance at certain ACCD and Corporate Board Member programs and events.


CREDENTIAL LEVELS AND REQUIREMENTS, EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2021


DIRECTOR QUALIFIED

Executives not currently serving on a public company board (and without any previous public company board experience)
Requirements:

Complete Director Fundamentals Program, including 6-month, self-paced online coursework and a 3-hour virtual fundamentals workshop

PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR

Open to directors with less than 2 years public company board service
Requirements:

  • Must have public board company experience (less than 2 years)
  • Attend one of the following events: Boardroom Summit, Sept 23-24, 2021 in New York, West Coast Boardroom Summit, November 17-18, 2021 in Phoenix, or ACCD Forum, March 28-30, 2022 in Ponte Vedra
  • Complete minimum of 2 Corporate Board Member Institute Director Fundamental Online Courses
  • Complete an additional 6 credits of board education during 12-month period by participating in another approved ACCD or CBM program (see list)
ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR

Must have minimum of 2 years public company board experience (Can skip PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR level)
Requirements:


  • Must have a minimum of 2 years public company board experience
  • Attend one of the following events: Boardroom Summit, Sept 23-24, 2021 in New York, West Coast Boardroom Summit, November 17-18, 2021 in Phoenix, or ACCD Forum, March 28-30, 2022 in Ponte Vedra
  • Complete an additional 6 credits of board education during 12-month period by participating in another approved ACCD or CBM program (see list)

MASTERS PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR

Must complete ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL director requirements
Requirements:


  • Previously earned status of Advanced Professional Director
  • Attend one of the following events: Boardroom Summit, West Coast Boardroom Summit, or ACCD Forum bi-annually
  • Complete an additional 10 credits of board education during 12-month period by participating in another approved ACCD or CBM program (See list)
  • Minimum 6 credits must be through in-person event attendance

EXECUTIVE MASTERS PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR

Minimum 5 years of public company board experience.  Must complete MASTERS PROFESSIONAL director requirements
Requirements:


  • Must have a minimum of 5 years public company board experience
  • Previously earned status of Masters Professional Director
  • Attend one of the following events: Boardroom Summit, West Coast Boardroom Summit, or ACCD Forum bi-annually
  • Complete an additional 10 credits of board education during 12-month period by participating in another approved ACCD or CBM program (see list)
  • Minimum 6 credits must be through in-person event attendance

*Above requirements must be met every two years to maintain credential status.

Opportunities for Executive Masters:

  • Serve on Advisory Council (Optional)
  • Serve as part of New Director Resource program for Director Fundamentals 6-month program (Optional)

Director Qualified $2,500 
Fee paid upon purchase of Director Fundamentals Program. Credential is issued after 6-month program completion and expires 2 years after date of issue.

Professional Director $1,500
Fee paid upon completion of level requirements. Credential expires 2 years after date of issue.   

Advanced Professional Director$1,500 
Fee paid upon completion of level requirements. Credential expires 2 years after date of issue.   

Masters Professional Director$2,000 
Fee paid upon completion of level requirements. Credential expires 2 years after date of issue.   

Executive Masters Professional Director$2,000 
Fee paid upon completion of level requirements. Credential expires 2 years after date of issue.

Applicable credits towards accreditation fees:

  • $500 credit from in-person one-day event registration fee
  • $750 credit from in-person two-day event registration fee
